Stratum-1 GNSS Time Server

GPS / GNSS PTP Time Server, PreciseSync-GMC-300

The PreciseSync-GMC-300 is Sertel's Stratum-1 GNSS time server for sites where every device on the network has to run on the same clock. It tracks GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and NavIC-IRNSS at once across 184 channels, holds timing accuracy of 15 nanoseconds under GNSS lock, and keeps that time steady on OCXO or Rubidium holdover if the antenna view is lost. The server distributes IEEE 1588v2 PTP, Stratum-1 NTP, IRIG-B and 1PPS from a single 1U or 2U rack unit, making it a single point of time reference for substations, data centers, telecom backhaul and defense networks.

Key Features

Engineered for Mission-Critical Time

Most networks that depend on GNSS time are not forgiving of a few milliseconds of drift. A protection relay that logs a fault one second off the actual event, or a trading system whose timestamps cannot be reconciled across servers, turns a timing problem into an operational or compliance problem. The PreciseSync-GMC-300 is built around that requirement: a wide GNSS front end for a reliable lock, a disciplined oscillator for the moments when the sky view is not available, and output protocols that match what power, telecom and industrial networks already run on.

Multi-GNSS Tracking

The 184-channel parallel-tracking receiver reads GPS L1 C/A and L2C, GLONASS L1OF and L2OF, Galileo E1B/C, and BeiDou B1I and B2I, with NavIC-IRNSS support for installations that need an India-based constellation in the mix. Tracking several constellations at once means the server keeps a usable fix even when one system is temporarily degraded or partially obstructed.

15 Nanosecond Accuracy

Under GNSS lock, the PreciseSync-GMC-300 holds timing accuracy of 15 nanoseconds, with PTP timestamping accurate to better than 100 nanoseconds end to end. That level of precision is what lets downstream devices agree on exactly when an event happened, not just approximately when.

Stratum-1 NTP / PTP

IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol runs in 1-step and 2-step delay modes, with the C37.238:2011 and C37.238:2017 power profiles, the ITU-T G.8265.1 and G.8275.1 telecom profiles, and the IEC 61850-9-3 power utility profile all supported on the same unit. Stratum-1 NTP and SNTP run alongside PTP for devices that are not PTP-aware.

IRIG-B & 1PPS Outputs

AM (IRIG-B 125) and DCF77 outputs are available alongside 1PPS, with pulse rates configurable as PPM, PPS, PPD or PPH to suit the receiving device. ST fiber distribution at 820 nm carries PPS, PTP and IRIG-B TTL signals to equipment that needs electrical isolation or sits beyond practical copper cable runs.

Hardened & Tested

The PreciseSync-GMC-300 is built and tested against IEC 60068 environmental standards, the IEC 61000-4 series for EMC immunity, and IEC 60255-5-0 for dielectric strength, the same test families substations and industrial control rooms specify for the rest of their equipment.

Web-Based Configuration

Configuration runs through an HTTPS/SSL browser session on the Sertel Time Management Suite, or locally from the front-panel keypad. SNMP v1, v2c and v3 run independently for monitoring, with syslog output in RFC-3164 and RFC-5424 formats and user-defined access control lists for network security.

Live signal flow

From GNSS Satellites to Every Industry, in Nanoseconds

Getting a traceable time signal from orbit to a substation relay or a telecom base station is a three-stage job. The PreciseSync-GMC-300 handles all three in one chassis, so the time your network runs on can be traced back to the same GNSS reference at every hop.

  1. 01Receive

The T-GPA-014-S15 helical antenna feeds GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and NavIC signals to the 184-channel receiver, which acquires down to -148 dBm and tracks down to -167 dBm. Typical installations hold a lock across eight or more satellites at a time.

  2. 02Discipline

An OCXO oscillator (10 PPB stability as standard, with Rubidium available at 0.1 PPB and 1 microsecond of drift over 24 hours of holdover) is disciplined to UTC while GNSS lock is present, so the server keeps accurate time and frequency through a satellite outage rather than free-running off a lower-grade clock.

  3. 03Distribute

Disciplined time leaves the server as Stratum-1 NTP, IEEE 1588v2 PTP, IRIG-B and 1PPS over dual Gigabit Ethernet, RJ45 or SFP, and ST fiber, reaching every device on the network from relays to recorders without a second reference clock in the chain.
