Redundant Stratum 1 GNSS Time Server

GPS / GNSS PTP Time Server: PreciseSync-GMC-300-R

The PreciseSync-GMC-300-R is a redundant, multi-constellation GPS/GNSS time server built to keep substations, data networks and industrial control systems on a single, traceable time base. Every critical stage, from GNSS reception to the grand master clock, comparator and power supply, is duplicated, so synchronisation continues without interruption even if one path fails. It distributes IEEE 1588v2 PTP, NTP, IRIG-B and 1PPS signals at Stratum 1 accuracy to protection relays, RTUs, PLCs and industrial networks.

15 ns GNSS lock accuracy at Stratum 1
Full redundancy across GNSS receiver, master clock, comparator and power supply
OCXO standard, with a Rubidium holdover option for extended signal-loss protection
Compact 19 inch rack mount, 2U or 3U depending on output configuration

PreciseSync-GMC-300-R redundant PTP IEEE 1588 time server with dual LCD panels

Key Features

Built for Continuous, Traceable Time Across the Network

Time synchronisation only matters if it keeps working when something goes wrong. The PreciseSync-GMC-300-R is engineered around that principle, pairing full hardware redundancy with wide protocol support so every connected device, from a protection relay to a data centre switch, shares the same accurate time reference.

Multi-Constellation GNSS Tracking

Tracks GPS L1 C/A and L2C, GLONASS L1OF and L2OF, Galileo E1B/C and BeiDou B1I and B2I signals, with NavIC/IRNSS support, through a 184 channel parallel tracking receiver. Acquisition sensitivity of minus 148 dBm and tracking sensitivity of minus 167 dBm keep the receiver locked even where satellite visibility is limited.

15 ns GNSS Lock Accuracy

Delivers 15 ns GNSS lock accuracy with a PTP timestamp accuracy of under 100 ns, meeting the precision that protection relays, phasor measurement units and SCADA systems need for correct event sequencing and fault recording.

Stratum 1 NTP and PTP Distribution

Generates Stratum 1 time directly from the GNSS reference and distributes it as IEEE 1588v2 PTP, in both 1 step and 2 step, P2P and E2E modes, alongside NTP, so IT and OT networks can run from the same clock without a secondary reference server.

IRIG-B, 1PPS and Fiber Outputs

Supports IRIG-B in AM and TTL form, DCF77, 1PPS, PPM and PPH pulse outputs, differential serial outputs and ST fiber distribution at 820 nm, covering legacy protection equipment and modern fiber-fed substations from one chassis.

Built and Tested for Harsh Environments

Rated for minus 10 to plus 55 degrees C operation and minus 40 to plus 85 degrees C storage, and qualified against IEC 60068, the IEC 61000-4 EMC immunity series and IEC 60255-5-0 dielectric strength standards for substation and industrial deployment.

Secure Web-Based Configuration

Configurable over HTTPS/SSL through the Sertel Time Management Suite or from the front panel keypad, with SNMP v1, v2c and v3 monitoring, user defined access control lists and Syslog notification for centralised oversight.

Live signal flow

How the PreciseSync-GMC-300-R Keeps a Network on Time

Accurate network time starts in orbit and ends at the device that needs it. The PreciseSync-GMC-300-R carries a signal through three stages, each backed by redundant hardware, before it reaches a single downstream port.

  1. 01Receive

The T-GPA-014-S15 helical GNSS antenna acquires signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and NavIC/IRNSS constellations across a 24 channel parallel front end, feeding a dual, redundant GNSS receiver pair so reception continues even if one receiver path is lost.

  2. 02Discipline

A high-stability oscillator, OCXO as standard or Rubidium for extended holdover, disciplines the incoming GNSS signal to UTC. If satellite signal is lost, the Rubidium option maintains 1 microsecond accuracy over a 24 hour holdover period, keeping downstream systems synchronised through short outages.

  3. 03Distribute

The disciplined time base is distributed as Stratum 1 NTP and IEEE 1588v2 PTP over dual Gigabit Ethernet, plus IRIG-B, 1PPS and fiber outputs, so every connected relay, server and controller draws from the same reference at the same time.
