Stratum-1 GNSS Time Server

GPS / GNSS NTP Time Server, PreciseSync-SMC-300-D

Every protection relay, SCADA panel and data logger on an industrial network makes decisions based on a timestamp. When those timestamps drift even slightly apart, event logs stop lining up, alarms arrive out of sequence and fault analysis becomes guesswork. The PreciseSync-SMC-300-D is a DIN rail mounted GPS and GNSS time server built to remove that uncertainty. It locks onto satellite signals from multiple constellations and distributes a single, traceable time reference across your network through IRIG-B and Stratum-1 NTP outputs, so every connected device works from the same clock.

Designed for panel and cabinet installations where rack space is limited, it fits directly onto a standard DIN rail alongside your other control gear, drawing time from a roof-mounted GNSS antenna and pushing it outward to SCADA systems, DCS controllers, IEDs, PLCs and RTUs.

30 ns GNSS lock accuracy for precise, traceable time stamping
Stratum-1 NTP and SNTP output over Ethernet (1GbE / Fast Ethernet)
IRIG-B (AM) time code output on a dedicated BNC connector
Multi-constellation GNSS reception: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and NavIC-IRNSS

PreciseSync-SMC-300-D DIN rail GPS / GNSS NTP time server

Key Features

Engineered for Dependable Network Time

Time synchronisation is only useful if it holds up under real operating conditions, through satellite outages, electrical noise and long cable runs between panels. The PreciseSync-SMC-300-D is built around that requirement, pairing a high-sensitivity GNSS receiver with an oven-controlled oscillator and a set of outputs chosen for industrial, telecom and power utility networks rather than office IT.

Multi-Constellation GNSS Tracking

A 24-channel receiver with 184-channel parallel tracking pulls signals from GPS (L1 C/A, L2C), GLONASS (L1OF, L2OF), Galileo (E1B/C), BeiDou (B1I, B2I), L5 and NavIC-IRNSS. Tracking more than one constellation at once means the server keeps a reliable fix even where sky view is partially obstructed by nearby structures or equipment.

30 ns GNSS Lock Accuracy

Once locked, the PreciseSync-SMC-300-D holds satellite time to within 30 nanoseconds, giving downstream devices a timestamp accurate enough for event sequencing, fault recording and cross-device correlation on protection and automation networks.

Stratum-1 NTP / SNTP Output

The built-in RJ45 Ethernet port (1GbE / Fast Ethernet) serves time as a Stratum-1 NTP and SNTP source over ARP, UDP and ICMP, letting servers, workstations and IP-based equipment synchronise over the existing network rather than through a dedicated timing cable.

IRIG-B (AM) Time Code Output

For legacy and protection-grade equipment, the server outputs IRIG-B in amplitude-modulated B125 format over a 50 ohm BNC connection, matching the interface expected by most relays, recorders and substation automation devices already in service.

OCXO and Rubidium Holdover

A high-stability OCXO (10 PPB) ships as standard, maintaining accurate output if the GNSS signal is briefly lost. For sites that need a longer holdover window, a rubidium oscillator option improves that stability to 0.1 PPB with roughly 1 microsecond of drift over 24 hours without a satellite lock.

Compact DIN Rail Design, Browser-Based Setup

At 185 mm (W) x 45 mm (D) x 283 mm (H) and roughly 3 kg, the unit mounts directly to a DIN rail inside existing panels. Configuration runs through an HTTPS and SSL browser interface, with the Sertel Time Management Suite available for remote access and server management across a site.

Live signal flow

How the PreciseSync-SMC-300-D Keeps Your Network on Time

The server moves time through three stages, from satellite to the devices on your panel, without any manual adjustment once it is installed and configured.

  1. 01Receive

An active GNSS antenna (model T-GPA-014-S15), roof-mounted with IP67 protection, picks up signals from the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and NavIC constellations and feeds them to the time server over a BNC connection.

  2. 02Discipline

The internal oscillator locks to UTC using the incoming satellite reference. If the antenna signal is interrupted, the OCXO or optional rubidium oscillator holds that reference steady, so connected devices keep receiving consistent time rather than a sudden jump when the signal returns.

  3. 03Distribute

Disciplined time leaves the server as IRIG-B (AM) and Stratum-1 NTP/SNTP, reaching SCADA systems, DCS controllers, IEDs, PLCs, LANs and RTUs over standard BNC and Ethernet connections already present in most control panels.
