80 GHz FMCW Millimetre Wave Level Measurement to 120 m
Sertel T-RL-300 is an 80 GHz radar level transmitter designed for non‐contact measurement of liquids, solids and bulk materials. It employs a 5 GHz FMCW sweep from 76 to 81 GHz to detect surface echoes through dust, steam and condensation. Such conditions frequently block lower‐frequency instruments, yet this model keeps ±1 mm accuracy across a 120 m range. Featuring six antenna types, 2‐wire or 4‐wire wiring options, and a 3‐degree beam, this single platform serves applications from 500 mm chemical dosing vessels to 100 m clinker silos.
Key Features
Agitators, heating coils, internal ladders and heavy vapour all generate false echoes. The T-RL-300 combines a narrow beam, a wide sweep and an application specific echo library so the instrument reports the product surface rather than the obstruction in front of it.
Millimetre Wave Resolution
Operating at 76 to 81 GHz places the T-RL-300 far above conventional Ku-band radar. Shorter wavelengths return sharper target separation and more precise positional accuracy, so a thin product layer near a tank floor still registers as a distinct echo.
5 GHz FMCW Sweep
The ultra wide 5 GHz frequency modulated continuous wave bandwidth keeps readings stable in heavy smoke, dust, steam and condensation, the exact conditions where narrower band radar starts drifting into measurement error.
3 Degree Focused Beam
A 3 degree emission angle concentrates energy into a tight cone, making the transmitter suitable for narrow space installations, nozzles, stilling wells and guided wave pipeline measurement. A 6 degree option is available where a wider footprint helps.
Advanced Echo Processing
A comprehensive library of echo processing algorithms and application specific signal conditioning data ships with the instrument. It earns its keep in storage tanks with strong dust, steam, stirring mechanisms and internal heating rods.
7 mm Blind Zone
A short blind zone of 7 to 80 mm means small vessels and shallow day tanks stay fully measurable right up to the flange face, while the same transmitter still reaches 120 m in large capacity storage tanks.
Open Integration
Standard HART, RS-485 and Modbus outputs plus a 4 to 20 mA loop connect the transmitter directly to existing DCS, PLC and SCADA layers. Host computer configuration software and tank side local display operation are both supported.
