Dual-Band GNSS Meteorological Radiosonde

Radiosonde T-RS-300: Dual-Band GNSS Weather Balloon Telemetry System

The Sertel Radiosonde T-RS-300 is a lightweight telemetry unit employed for weather balloon soundings in the upper atmosphere. It weighs under 30 grams and contains platinum sensors that measure temperature and humidity. A dual-band GNSS receiver, protected against jamming and spoofing, determines wind speed, wind direction, and altitude at heights from 30 to 40 kilometers. The device sends all data to a ground receiver within a 300-kilometer range. This enables meteorologists to gather a continuous profile of atmospheric conditions from launch until the balloon bursts.

Reliable Long-Range Telemetry

Sounding data reaches the ground station over a proven range of up to 300 km. Narrow-band transmission keeps more channels available within the meteorological frequency band, so performance stays dependable across every launch.

Key Features

Engineered for Reliable Atmospheric Sounding

Every design choice in the Radiosonde (T-RS-300), from its enclosure to its GNSS front end, is built to protect measurement accuracy through a fast, uncontrolled ascent.

Ultra-Lightweight Sonde

A globally benchmarked lightweight architecture keeps the T-RS-300 under 30 g, minimizing payload and preserving balloon ascent performance from launch to burst.

Dual-Band GNSS Positioning

A high-performance dual-band GNSS receiver, tracking L1 and L5 including IRNSS, delivers precise positioning, improved tracking accuracy and reliable navigation throughout the flight.

Anti-Jamming & Anti-Spoofing Protection

Built-in AJ and AS technology keeps GNSS positioning resilient even in challenging RF environments, protecting the integrity of wind and altitude data.

Extended Atmospheric Profiling

The T-RS-300 profiles the atmosphere up to 30 to 40 km altitude and transmits sounding data over an RF range of up to 300 km for long-distance coverage.

Platinum Temperature & Humidity Sensing

High-precision temperature and humidity sensors, built on stable linear resistive platinum technology, deliver accurate, fast-responding atmospheric measurements with low solar radiation error.

EMI-Protected Flexible PCB

A flexible PCB with advanced EMI shielding and a specialized protective coating gives the T-RS-300 durability, electrical stability and long-term reliability under harsh flight conditions.

How a T-RS-300 Sounding Works

Every T-RS-300 flight follows the same reliable sequence, from ground preparation to received data.

01

Preflight Setup

Flight parameters are configured over USB or wireless, and the temperature and humidity sensors are checked before launch.

02

Balloon Ascent

The T-RS-300 climbs with the balloon, continuously sampling temperature and humidity through its full -95°C to +60°C operating range.

03

GNSS Wind & Altitude Calculation

The dual-band L1 + L5 GNSS receiver, using 72-channel DGPS wind finding, calculates wind speed, wind direction and altitude up to 30 to 40 km, protected by built-in anti-jamming and anti-spoofing.

04

RF Telemetry

Sounding data transmits over the 400 to 406 MHz GFSK/LoRa link to a ground receiver up to 300 km away.

05

Ground Reception

The ground station receives and logs the complete atmospheric profile, ready for forecasting and analysis.

Built for Consistent Field Performance

From preflight sensor checks through to GNSS lock, the T-RS-300 is designed to minimize manual intervention while maintaining measurement accuracy and data integrity across every sounding operation.

Applications

Where the T-RS-300 Radiosonde Is Used

The T-RS-300 supports the full range of upper-air sounding work, from routine forecasting to time-critical disaster response.
